March's book: A Concubine for the Family: A Family Saga in China by Amy Kwei. This program will feature a reading and discussion with the author. Kwei explains, "This novel covers a tumultuous era in Chinese history beginning in 1937 and ending in 1941. It also explores the circumstances surrounding the true-life event of my grandmother's gift of a concubine to my grandfather on his birthday. This is also a story of family solidarity and feminine heroism in times of war and destruction."

The first 20 attendees to register will receive a free copy of the book at the event! Additional copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event at a discounted price and the author will be available to sign books immediately following the event.

Light refreshments will be served. Co-sponsored by The Asian Network@Yale.
